Sankrant Special Recipes
Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious occasions for the Hindus, and is celebrated in almost all parts of our country. It is a harvest festival. Makar Sankranti is perhaps the only Indian festival whose date almost always falls on the same day every year i.e. the 14th of January. But this year it’s on 15th Jan 2011.

 The Makar Sankranti festival is celebrated in the mid winter in India, the food prepared for this festival is such that it keeps the body warm and gives high energy. Hence til(sesame seeds) and gul(jaggery, brown sugar) are basically used in the preparation of sweets for this festival.
